October 2026 President’s Letter
Dear CSOC Members,
Fall is here and we have lots to look forward to as we go into the last quarter of 2026. Please log in, click on events and sign up for the October event(s) that appeal to you. Choices currently include: Taste of Market Common, Little River Shrimp Festival, History of Myrtle Beach Trolley Tour and a Sunset Happy Hour Cruise from Murrels Inlet. Thank you, Sherry Walters and Roseanne Maglione for planning such a variety of fun and interesting things to do up and down the Grand Strand.
September went by quickly and largely because of all the fun we had, thanks to Sheryl Williams and Elena Moglia. Many of us attended the Labor Day Bocce/BBQ celebration at Elena’s house. The regulation Bocce Court was enjoyed by everyone, even the spectators. The food was plentiful as everyone brought a side, appetizer or dessert to share. Thanks to Dave Bates for manning the grill. Happy Hour and Music Bingo at It Doesn’t Matter is popular with our club members and a good time was had by all. Line Dancing at the 810 Bowling Alley in Market Common followed by happy hour at Travinia was especially fun. Participants learned at least 4 or 5 line dances and then headed over to Travina and were surprised to find they had special seating the Wine Tasting Room. It turned out to be a nice night for the Tribute to Billy Joel at the NMB Sports Complex and the talent of the musicians was appreciated. Many of us found our way to the Barn View Winery in Loris and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in a beautiful setting. The music, food and wine paired with interesting conversations made for a great way to spend Saturday afternoon in the country. A big thank you to Sheryl and Elena for planning a month full of memory making activities.
Our club meeting will be October 13 at 6:00 at the Giant Crab Restaurant. Many of you have already signed up. Please be sure to sign up before 6:00 pm on the Friday before our meeting. If you register and cannot come, be sure to go on the website to cancel. Contact me or Grey via text if you need to cancel after October 9.
For several years, we have collected pull tabs from beverage cans to give to the Ronald McDonald House to help with their fundraising effort. We are still doing this! Please bring your pull tabs in a baggie to our CSOC meetings and give them to me.
Looking ahead, in November, we will have our annual Thanksgiving Dinner and a short meeting at the Beachfront Kitchen. The cost will be 25.00 per member and will include tax and tip. There will also be a cash bar. Due to space limitations, this will be a members only event.
Our Christmas Party has been scheduled for December 9th at Pine Lakes Country Club. You have all received a flyer about this as well as a reservation form. Please sign up on the website if you intend to come to the party but know that your registration is not complete until you mail your completed form along with a check. The deadline for the reservation form and check to be received is November 16, 2026.
Elena has done a great job organizing an amazing group of volunteers to plan events throughout this calendar year. If you have suggestions for an event, please pass them on to Elena. Start thinking of taking your turn for 2027.
Our trip to Portugal is coming up in a few weeks and we are all excited. Many of us have never been on a river cruise before, so this will make the trip even more special. John Schwartz will continue to communicate with trip participants via email about any last-minute details so keep checking your email. There are four rooms available for the France River Cruise scheduled for October 2 -12, 2027. Besides the cruise, we will also spend a few days in Paris. If you are interested, please fill out the trip form and send it with your first deposit to John. There is a PDF on our website for the France trip.
Most of you have submitted your pictures to Kathy Britt so that she can post them on our Members Only Directory. No one else can see your picture except CSOC members. This helps our members put a name with a face. If you haven’t done so, you can upload your own picture, just make sure we can clearly see your face! If you want Kathy to upload it, send it to her and she will make it happen. If you come to the October meeting, Charlene will be happy to take your picture and send it to Kathy Britt to be posted.
