PRESIDENT'S LETTER: August 2026
Hello CSOC members!
We are heading into the homestretch of summer! We are all too aware of how quickly time goes by. Continue reading to find out some ways your club is helping to make the times ahead fun and interesting.
The July activities were organized by Joan Steighner, Darlene Graham and Melanie Stancil. Those of us who met at the OD Arcade enjoyed some time to visit and catch up. The drinks and food at the OD are always good. The group then went on to hear live music at the Horseshoe on Main Street. The next week, several members participated in creating beautiful cheeseboards at the Board & Brush. About 15 of us attended the lunch at The Bossy Hen and everyone agreed the mimosas and the food warranted a return visit. The weather was too hot for mini golf, so that gave us some extra time to chat. The I Hate Hamlet play was entertaining and those of us who attended appreciated the acting. The month wound down with a trip on the Big M Casino and, the following week, Music Bingo at It Doesn’t Matter. These events were enjoyed by all. A big thank you to Darlene, Joan and Melanie for working together to make this month a success.
August events are being planned by Charlene and Steve Dougherty. We are kicking off the month by checking out the new Olde Smoky Distillery and Brewery happy hour at Broadway at the Beach. Lunch at Salt and Lime, Music Bingo and Happy Hour at Calli Baker’s as well as an Ice Cream Social house party are all proving to be popular events. Go ahead and log in to our website and sign up. If you need help signing up or canceling, please contact me, Elena or Kathy Britt.
As mentioned last month, since our club has not been active with the Crescent Ski Council in several years, the CSOC Board voted in favor of discontinuing our membership with the Crescent Ski Council. The bylaws have been updated accordingly. As a reminder, if someone is interested in downhill skiing, please talk with John Schwartz and he will get you pointed in the right direction.
Save the date: Our Christmas/Holiday Dinner Dance has been scheduled for December 9th at Pine Lakes Country Club. Cloud Nyne will be providing music. Details will be coming via email and at a monthly meeting.
Elena has done a great job organizing an amazing group of volunteers to organize events throughout this calendar year. Start thinking of taking your turn for 2027.
John introduced the 2027 Paris trip at our last meeting. We have two rooms remaining on the lower deck for the cruise. There may also be folks looking for roommates, so if you want to go, please send your 200.00 deposit to John before August 20th.
Several of you have submitted your pictures to Kathy Britt so that she can post them on our Members Only directory. No one else can see your picture except CSOC members. This helps our members put a name with a face. If you prefer, you can upload your own picture, just make sure we can clearly see your face!
Our August 11 meeting will be at 6:00 at the Myrtle Beach State Park, shelter number 3. Come out and enjoy some fried chicken and sides. Take note: bring your own non-alcoholic beverage; which means bring your own water or whatever you like to drink. Registration will end at midnight on Sunday, August 9. If you register and cannot come, be sure to go on the website to cancel. Contact me or Grey via text if you need to cancel after August 9. Please sign up. I hope to see you there!
Once again, I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter, participating in all the ways that you can, and continuing to make this club a memorable part of each of our lives.
Sincerely,
Annie Laurie Lehman
President
