PRESIDENT'S LETTER: February, 2026
Hello CSOC Members!
Just when we were enjoying a nice walk on the beach, snow and ice happened! For those who ski, or used to ski, it could be a welcome sight. It is beautiful, but a fairly unique weather occurrence for our area, so please be careful out there.
Our January meeting was a little business and a lot auction. The auction was successful, raising $400.00 to be split between the CSOC treasury and the Community Kitchen in Myrtle Beach. Elena was a terrific auctioneer and her helpers graciously delivered the goods. After the New Year’s Day Party at Elena’s, the rest of January was planned by Charlie and Jane Graffeo. The visit to Chapin Art Museum proved to be amazing as well as moving. The late lunch at Damons was delicious and gave us time to reflect on the multimedia art that we viewed. The Comedy Cabana was a hit for all. Charlie and Jane also arranged for dinner at Dick’s Last Resort and, the last week of the month, Jazz in the Stacks at the Chapin Memorial Library. Thanks, once again, to Elena for hosting the New Year’s Day party and to Charlie and Jane for lining up a nice variety of activities.
February events have been planned by Beverly Kradel and Joanne Sinclair. Spots are filling up fast for many of the activities they have in store for us. Music Bingo, the Red and Pink House party, Ripley’s Aquarium, lunch at Mimosa’s, Laughter on the 23rd Floor at Long Bay Theater, lunch at Soho’s and dinner and a movie are all in the lineup. Also, if you are interested in the Super Bowl, go to Beachfront Kitchen to cheer on your team. Jan will provide other games as well a full menu. Note that the new book club is kicking off with the first meeting on February 16. Check in with Rhonda Charles if you have any questions about the book club.
March activities are being planned by Joan Steighner and Regina Erpenbeck. These two have planned several different venues for a variety of games ranging from table top games to trivia to music bingo. Lunch at Flynn’s Tavern will not disappoint and there is also one planned in Conway at Spice C. The bold comedy, “Senior Living: Love, Sex & Orthopedic Shoes” sounds like something some of us could have created. Check our website under events. Make sure you have logged on and signup. You will have a fun time.
John Schwartz will be sending an email about the trips. At January’s Club meeting he said that February is “show me the money”, which means paying on the Portugal trip as well as the land portion for the trip to England. By now, anyone going on the Jacksonville trip should have paid in full.
Our February Club Meeting will take place at Beachfront Kitchen at 6:00 on Tuesday, February 10. We will have a Valentines theme, so it will be festive.
As always, remember to think about how you can make your club fun for all of us. There are lots of ways to get involved. See me if you would like to volunteer in some way. See Elena about organizing and leading monthly events. It’s easier than you think and way more fun than you can imagine.
2026 has gotten off to a fabulous start. Thank you for participating and making this club a memorable part of each of our lives.
Sincerely,
Annie Laurie Lehman
